We are getting ready to leave for another trip to Chincha. There is a group of six of us and we will be there for an entire week. We will be doing many of the same things that we did on my first trip.
Yesterday I decided to go play soccer at a complex about a 15 minute walk away. So I walk into the complex, there are several soccer courts within the walls of the compound. Right when I walked in a ball ended up coming my way and I easily kicked it back. Then as I continued forward to another soccer court where a group of guys was playing there ball came my way. The distance between me and the soccer court was rather big so I decided to just throw it back. However in my attempt to throw it back the ball hit a curb and ended up bouncing right back to me. There were a few laughs from the guys that were playing. As the ball bounced back to me I decided to kick it back, but the ball went off the side of my foot and over a building to my left and you can only imagine the reaction from everyone. There was much laughter and I wondered what they thought of me, a white guy trying to kick a soccer ball. I ended up joining a game on another court and meeting a group of guys around my age. I played a lot better during this game than when I launched a ball over a small building.  One of them spoke English and wants to hopefully teach English in the near future. After talking with him and his friends, who knew a little bit of English, I was greatly encouraged. I am hoping to meet with this guy, Alonso, regularly and practice English with him. This will provide a great opportunity to share my faith and to share with him the love of our Father. I am excited about the week ahead and even more excited about coming back to meet with Alonso and his friends.
I also got a new haircut on Friday night. Mom do not freak out.

Well, I hope to give you an update on our Chincha trip shortly after our return.

  4. Jason, I didn’t freak out. It was the first thing I noticed though. I’m sure I’ve missed you and you’re now in Chincha. Glad you’re picking up a sport and making friends your own age. It’s like I told you last week, God will provide for your need. The dark one will try and discourage you but God will prevail. Jimmy and I love you and we miss you but get excited when we see your new blogs and pics. I keep checking skype and will talk to you soon.

  5. Hi Jason, it’s a joy to know of a young man as yourself taking the opportunity to share with the world who Jesus is and the love our Father has for us. On your life’s journey continue to bless others as the Lord contunues to bless you. Be safe. Lot of hair gone huh? maybe your mother didn’t freak out….

  6. Hmmmm… that’s funny, I think that’s how we first met, I laughed at you! It’s funny how you make friends….

I wish I was there schooling you at soccer right now… 😉

  7. You write so well, I could visualize the whole soccer ball incident. I laughed out loud when you descibed the ball being launched over the building. It only goes to show you don’t know your own strength. I’m sure you are being strenghtened spiritually as well as it is displayed it what you describe that is happening as you do God’s will. Keep your eyes on God and he’ll lead you where you need to go. By the way, your mom may not have freaked out about your hair cut, but I sure did! I like it though. Love you and can’t wait to hear more.

  8. What’s up cuz? I am so happy for you that you are enjoying your time down there. I am sure it is changing your life and you’ll have amazing memories forever…and ones to share with your kids…they’ll think you’re awesome…and you are! be safe…come back and tell more good stories. love, bethany
